DTA: DIGITAL TEST ASSISTANT
DTA is a mobile app that helps the conducting body record and submit results for tests and trainings. It aims to replace traditional pen-and-paper record taking and offer a convenient and seamless pipeline with the Army Training Management System (ATMS).
Though it seemed straightforward at first, we quickly found out that in order for ensure user adoption, the design of the app will need to be deliberate and ensure a smooth transition from existing methods that have been entrenched for years.
In this year long project, we dove deep into a bank's loan application process for both personal and SME loans. From customers to employees, we conducted extensive user research and worked with technical architects in order to design an end-to-end solution.
This was my first project overseas and it taught me to ditch my assumptions in order to design a product that fits into existing user behaviour.
Slightly clueless and apprehensive but excited — those were my emotions upon joining a new company. These emotions were also shared across my peers, along with the dread of reading up multiple documents of office policy and internal toolings.
As part of a showcase event for IBM THINK 40, we decided to tackle this problem while utilising emerging technology such as generative AI and virtual environments.
Many appliances nowadays have smart capabilities built-in as a standout feature. However, it is challenging for both the promoter and the visitor to experience these capabilities first-hand in a busy showroom environment.
As part of a pitch, I developed a prototype to showcase the ability of a virtual environment to bring this experience to the user from the comfort of their homes.
Museums are mostly indoors and some have confusing layouts. The exhibits themselves might also be placed in hard to spot areas.
With poor GPS tracking and an emphasis on practicality, this potential method of indoor navigation might be able to guide users accurately and effectively and can even function as a tour guide when pieced together.
As part of my journey into Unity and learning about VR development, I tried to see how I can rethink the current home menu in Meta Quest headsets. A virtual environment requires physical interactions with virtual objects to achieve maximum immersion. However, this might come at a cost of convenience.
In this project I sought to see if I can find a different balance between immersion and convenience. It was also my first application of the Unity XR kit in which i built from scratch and wanted to quickly test my concept.
Identifying animals can be tough. Identifying skittish animals in the wild with blurry pictures can be even more challenging. After a trip around a nature park, I had difficulty identifying the animals that I spotted and felt that an alternative approach can be taken.
In a nutshell, Anymal is an application that will enable the identification of animals through a “QnA”/”Akinator”-esque method for more accurate and consistent results.
In a world where advancing technology seemingly deepens our isolation, where virtual experiences strive to keep us locked in for as long as possible, Nascent is an exploration of the opposite. This AR experience encourages interaction with the real world and with others, turning technology into a bridge for human connection.
Nascent was also a personal exploration into designing and developing experiences using the Unity game engine and Niantic's Lightship ARDK. This was my first working Unity prototype for iOS that I designed and developed.
“What if we never got out of quarantine?” “What can we as individuals do, to maintain a sense of normalcy?” “When we view the real world through virtual means, what happens to our reality?”
This isn't really a normal "UX Case Study" project but it was something purely driven by my own interest in creating environments. With a simple premise and short timeline, I managed to scrap up a short short of a near future where a pandemic could have forced people indoors indefinitely.
